In an effort to make the Rockford region more attractive to young professionals, national consultant Rebecca Ryan suggested a regional young professionals organization as part of a 21-recommendation plan in 2006. After gaining support from 13 local community agencies and private companies, a full-time staff director was hired in December 2008. In just a few short months the organization was launched with a bang. More than 250 regional young professionals gathered at A Perryville Place April 9, 2009 for the official launch of IGNITE and kick-off for membership. Since then, the group continues to grow with just under 200 members in 8 months and the addition of three more corporate members.
